The two-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes on the ramp to I-486 in Ridley Township was called in by a passerby, bringing Pennsylvania State Police troopers to the scene around 9:45 p.m., Trooper Paul Holdefer said.
There, they found Clinton Martin, a 29-year-old man from Lansdowne, PA, with a gunshot wound behind the wheel of his car, and Joshua Waltz, a 33-year-old man from Odessa, DE, underneath his vehicle, which had been struck by Martin's car, Holdefer said.
An investigation found that a gray 2010 Chevrolet Malibu had become disabled, and its driver, Waltz, was outside fo the vehicle at the rear bumper, Holdefer said. Meanwhile, a gray 2010 Mazda 5 driven by Martin was driving in the right shoulder.
The Mazda made contact with the right concrete barrier/guide rail and dragged itself along the barrier for about a quarter-mile before hitting Waltz and the rear bumper of his vehicle. Martin was pronounced dead at the scene of a gunshot wound, and Waltz was found under his vehicle, already dead.
Troopers are asking that anyone driving in the area of this incident that have a vehicle equipped with a dash cam or any other mobile recording devices on their vehicles to contact PSP to assist with this investigation.
